Nanopanel.nl discusses the implications of nanotechnology with Dutch citizens

All Dutch citizens are invited to join the panel at www.nanopanel.nl and share their opinions on how society should deal with nanotechnology.

Www.nanopanel.nl is a Dutch website which involves citizens in a discussion on the implications of nanotechnology in every day life. The website provides information on the application of nanotechnology in consumer, food, environmental and medical technologies. New articles and videos are added weekly. The forum poses questions on how to deal with this new technology on both practical, social and ethical levels. Participants discuss how they feel and what they think about the ways in which nanotechnology can change their world and what they would want the government, scientists and industries to do to improve their trust, their welfare and their knowledge. All Dutch citizens are invited to join the panel and share their opinions on how society should deal with nanotechnology. The website is one of the projects supported by the commission for a society-wide dialogue on nanotechnology, set up by the Dutch government. At the end of 2010 this commission will analyse the results of the different projects and report to the government on how the Dutch citizenry feel about the opportunities and threats of (the application of) nanotechnology. The commission\'s report will inform further governmental policy on nanotechnology.
