The organisation MINAPIM is a webportal for nanotechnology in Portuguese and Spanish and English speaking countries in Latin America, based in Brasil. The portal is hosted by SUFRAMA, the Superintendence of the Free trade zone in the region of Manaus in Brazil. They are related to other Brazilian networks specialising in nanotechnology including the Millennium Institutes and RENAMI. Kind of collaboration SUFRAMA and Nanoforum develop institutional relations for the dissemination and consolidation of nanotechnology, using the electronic magazine MINAPIM, helping to organize and realize seminars, courses and other activities, in order to support Latin American and European researchers wishing to collaborate with each other. The magazine works with the technical support of VDI-VDE and WTC from Germany, ATIP from Japan and YOLE from France. Contact Eng. The partnership includes strengthening Science and Technology collaborations. Brazilian scientists can participate as equal partners in projects under the Seventh EU Framework programme for RTD, and Brazil is encouraged to fund their own participants if appropriate. The communication foresees joint RTD strategy development in areas of common interest (p 11-12). Under the ERASMUS-MUNDUS scheme, 30.5 million euro is reserved for funding scholarships for Brazilian students coming to Europe (p 13). The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation EMBRAPA is investing $1.9 million in a National Nanotechnology Laboratory for Agribusiness, to be built in Sao Paolo.
