Portugal Government initiatives Ministry of Economy and Innovation The ministry of Economy and Innovation has several programmes and incentives for innovation, involving SMEs. The website of the institute for support to SMEs includes information on innovation support. Public and private organisations The Centre for Research in Ceramics and Composite Materials is part of the University of Aveiro. CICECO includes a Centre for Materials Design and Technology which assists SMEs and others with research and technology support. The National Institute of Industrial Engineering and Technology is part of the Ministry of the Economy. The activities include advice and support to SMEs and other companies in different technologies. SMEs are supported by CEGEF (the Centre of Training Management and Engineering) and CITI (the Centre of Technical Information for Industry). VacMinho is an SME offering development, consultancy and production of functional coatings and nanotechnology surface engineered projects.
