Infrastructures Supporting Business

The Lithuanian Business Support Agency (LBSA)
LBSA mission is to manage and administer financial assistance provided by the EU Structural Funds and national support programmes.

Lithuanian Development Agency for SME (SMEDA)
SMEDA’s mission is the development of SME through the promotion and encouragement of competitive enterprises: information dissemination, training services for entrepreneurs, support to Business Information Centres and Business Incubators.

The Business Support Network
It seeks to promote the establishment and development of SMEs The Business support network encompasses 42 business information centres and 7 business incubators operating in Lithuania.

The Lithuanian Innovation Centre (LIC)
LIC provides competent guidance and support to Lithuanian research institutions, industry, and SMEs in innovation and technology transfer matters.

The Lithuanian Development agency (LDA)
LDA is a local partner for foreign businesses interested in Lithuania or sourcing product.


Tax relief, relief on charges and other privileges

Direct support for business 2004-2010

Improvement of business conditions 2004-2006
This measure aims to develop a SME support system, an Innovation support system, Science and Technology parks and Technology centres, industrial zones, associated business structures and clusters, implement environmental measures in business and improve the image of Lithuanian products and services internationally


Investment and financial support

Investment and Financial Support Innovation in business program II (2003-2006)
The “Innovation in business program II" aims at increasing the international competitiveness of Lithuanian business by intensifying the application of new technological solutions and organisational initiatives in enterprises. The budget of the programme for 2005 is 2.7M euro and the maximum financial support for the company – 120,000 Euro.

Municipal SMB Developments Funds

INVEGA
INVEGA provides guarantees for bank loans for SMEs and administers loan interest subsidies for SMEs.

Lithuanian Environmental Investment Fund
LEID Mission consists of improving export performance of companies and increasing their competitiveness in foreign markets, by insuring export of goods and services against the risk involved.

SEB VB Venture Capital Management

Šiaulių Bankas Investment Management
Šiaulių Bankas Investment Management offers funds to SMEs for acquisition of shares and redemption transactions, restructurisation of enterprises, development, etc.

Baltic Small and Medium Size Enterprise Fund
The Baltic SME Fund seeks to invest in Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian private SMEs. Funds are invested into the enterprise's share capital, mainly through acquisition of a new share emission.

Baltic Small Equity Fund (BSEF)
BSEF is a venture capital firm that invests in SMEs in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Other Support Organisations

NENNET
NENNET is a research network for Nanosciences, Material and Energy research in Lithuania. Its activities include SME assistance: dissemination of scientific information among target groups such as policy makers, industry and SMEs through workshops, raising awareness and training on New Instruments teams from research and SME attracted to the area under consideration, assisting SMEs in preparation of the proposals and in creation of links with research organisations.

Innovation Relay Centre
The Lithuanian Innovation Centre in cooperation with the Science and Technologies Park is implementing the project “Innovation Relay Centres in Lithuania” (IRC LIHUANIA).
