NABIIT

The Danish Council for Strategic Research has initiated a programme commission on Nanosciences, Biotechnology and IT called NABIIT.

 

Ministry of Economy and Business Affairs

The Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs is responsible for a number of policy areas which are important for the general business environment, including business regulation, Intellectual Property Rights, competition policy, the financial sector, the construction sector and shipping.

 

Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation

The object of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is to promote the interaction of trade and industry, centres of research and education and to strengthen coordination in pursuance of industry and research policy.

Regional support agencies have been established in each of the fourteen Danish counties. These contact centres offer free advice to set up businesses.

 

Invest in Denmark

Invest in Denmark is a part of the Danish Trade Council in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark supporting foreign companies when starting a business in Denmark.

 

 

Public and Private Centres 

 

Risø

Risø is a national laboratory under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. It has developed a system for fast-track commercialisation of research-based business ideas. Currently, the Risø National Laboratory has more than 150 collaborations with companies.

 

MIC

MIC is a Research Institute on micro and nanotechnology at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Kongens Lyngby.

 

Nano-Science Centre

The Nano-Science Centre at the University of Copenhagen was formed as a joint project between the Niels Bohr Institute and the Department of Chemistry under the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Copenhagen in 2001. Besides research and education, an important aim of the Nano-Science Centre is to encourage technology transfer into companies involved in nanotechnology.

 

CAT-Science Park

The CAT Science Park provides start-up companies access to technical and lab facilities, conference rooms, reception and administration services.

 

HIH Development

HIH Development supports companies in the field of biotechnology, information technology (IT) and nanotechnology.

 

Syddansk Innovation

Syddansk Innovation aims to identify innovative ideas and projects originating in the educational institutions of Southern Denmark, as well as from other entrepreneurs in the area.

 

Symbion Science Park

Symbion Science Park is a private science park in Copenhagen hosting about 80 innovative start-up companies focusing on IT and biotechnology. Symbion works in collaboration with DTU Innovation to manage the SeeD Capital fund.

 

Scion-DTU

Incubator facilities are available in Hørsholm and Lyngby for businesses in the early stages of start-up that wish to associate with established research companies.

 

DANCHIP

The national clean room facility for micro and nanotechnology, Danchip, offers a direct access for companies and provides its own proprietary space at low running costs.

Copenhagen Capacity, CoCap, is the official investment agency of Copenhagen. CoCap assists companies in establishing an organisation in Copenhagen free of charge.

Denmark’s Entrepreneur Fund-SeeD Capital Denmark, was established in 2005 in collaboration with a number of private and financial sector investors.

 

Teknologisk Innovation

Teknologisk Innovation invests in technology-based ideas with great commercial potential, such as energy technology, environment, micro and nanotechnology, hardware, software and wireless.

Danish Accreditation and Metrology Fund

The Danish Accreditation and Metrology Fund, DANAK is a service company handling the administration of accreditation and metrology in Denmark based on a contract with the Danish Safety Technology Authority which is a part of the Danish Ministry of Economics and Business Affairs.

 

Danish Environmental Protection Agency

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, is responsible for the legislation regarding all environmental issues in Denmark.

 

Danish Fundamental Metrology, DFM

The DFM is the national metrology institute and an independent private organisation.

Connect Denmark

Nano Øresund

NanoOresund connects industry and academia to foster research and innovation on the Danish and Swedish sides of the Øresund region.

 

NaNet

NaNet is a relatively new nanotechnology network established by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

 

ScanBalt

ScanBalt is a meta-network spanning networks in 11 countries of the Scandinavian and Baltic region focussing on biological and medical subjects.

 

Innovation Relay Centre

The Innovation Relay Centre (IRC) network was founded by European Commission which supports SMEs through knowledge transfer and by setting up international partnerships.

 

NanoBIC, Nanotek

The University of Southern Denmark runs two networks called NanoBIC and Nanotek, which are related to nanobioscience and nanotechnology. Their aim is to coordinate developments in the field of nanotechnology and to provide a thematic guide for individuals as well as for companies.
